School Green Space

The Green Foundation believes that access to green space and nature are vital for a healthy community. In fact, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences published a study in June 2015 that found that green spaces can actually boost cognitive outcomes in children-in part by protecting their brains from air pollutants.
In response to that and other similar studies, the Green Foundation established the School Green Space program to assist Newport News Public Schools with establishing and/or revitalizing outdoor recreation and learning spaces on school grounds.
