Bee the Change! Help Pollinators Thrive
Our green spaces need your help! By donating to our Bee the Change campaign for Give Local 757, you’ll support the planting of native pollinator plants that provide essential food and habitat for bees, butterflies, and other vital pollinators.
Give Today. Grow Tomorrow.
At the Newport News Green Foundation, we work to preserve, transform, and promote green spaces in our city. We are working on reducing the lawn area on several of our green spaces and replacing it with native plants.
Planting sites include:
- The Sarfan Food Forest: Located in Southeast Newport News, the Sarfan Food Forest will include a diverse ecosystem of edible plants like fruit trees, vegetables, berries, and more! The Sarfan Food Forest will be free and accessible to the public and is intended to address food scarcity in the area.
- Hilton Ravine: Located adjacent to Hilton Elementary School, this 6-acre property is characterized by a natural stormwater ravine. This green space also features an outdoor classroom and walking path.
- Green Spaces at 39th Street and Center Ave: We are making upgrades to our green spaces at 39th Street and Center Ave. Our plan is to plant pollinator gardens at both of these properties.
Together, we can create thriving ecosystems, beautify our community, and protect the species that sustain our environment. DONATE TODAY!
